Tetra Pak^® Clarifiers for milk, whey and plant-based beverages

Tetra Pak^® Clarifiers are centrifugal clarifiers that remove impurities from dairy milk, whey and plant-based beverages. Unlike clarifiers that are limited to either hot or cold milk, they handle both, and they take out everything from bacteria and somatic cells down to sand, straw and cow hair.

In milk clarification, the separation of small particles improves as the temperature rises; leucocytes and bacteria are removed most efficiently at 50–60 °C. In whey clarification, the clarifier runs at vat temperature and removes cheese fines upstream of the whey separator, which keeps fat separation efficient and production runs long. For plant-based beverages, the clarifiers give producers room to adjust mouthfeel and viscosity.

All Tetra Pak^® Clarifiers are built on the AirTight design. Hermetic inlet seals keep air out and prevent overflow, and a hollow spindle accelerates the product gradually so that particles and aggregates keep their size. Hermetic outlet seals stop air-induced fat splitting and foaming, and a rotating product discharge pump replaces the paring disc, so a wide capacity range is possible without mechanical changes and with lower energy consumption.

• Design: Hermetic inlet and outlet seals, hollow spindle, product discharge pump and a bowl in corrosion-resistant Duplex and Super Duplex steel with a 10-year bowl material guarantee.

Options: For high-capacity lines, the Encapt™ technology reduces pressure and air friction around the bowl and with it the energy consumption. The INSTAL module delivers the clarifier pre-assembled and pre-tested on a stainless-steel frame with all peripherals, so installation is quick.
