Tetra Pak® heat exchangers

Tetra Pak® Plate Heat Exchangers

Tetra Pak® plate heat exchangers heat and cool food products in a processing line at capacities of up to 100,000 l/h. They handle products from low to high viscosity, including products with fibres of up to 5 mm, and every detail of plates and gaskets is designed around food safety and hygiene.

Gentle, energy-efficient heating that protects product quality

Easy to clean, service and rebuild for new products or capacities

Long equipment life thanks to robust gaskets and plate pressing technology

The plates are tall and narrow, and their surface pattern and port size are tailored to food processing. Together, they spread the product evenly across the entire plate without low-velocity zones, which reduces fouling, allows longer production runs and makes cleaning faster and more effective. The gaskets use a robust T-clip design that is easy to remove and refit, and a safety groove in the seal chamber makes any leakage visible from outside, so product and media do not mix unnoticed.

Because the connections are bolted rather than welded to the connection plates, a Tetra Pak® plate heat exchanger can be rebuilt with little effort when your products or capacities change. Adapting the configuration instead of buying new equipment keeps the cost of later upgrades low.

The premium Tetra Pak® Plate Heat Exchanger H range comprises the models H4, H5 and H8, developed for dairy, beverage and other industries where hygiene cannot be compromised. Their flow distribution supports thorough cleaning and long operating times, and their plate pattern treats delicate products gently.

  • Applications: Heat treatment of food and beverages, especially dairy products, from low to high viscosity and with fibres of up to 5 mm.

  • Capacity: Up to 100,000 l/h.

  • Design data: Maximum design pressure of 10 to 16 barg depending on frame type, maximum design temperature of 160 °C, free channel of 3.0 mm; the H5 is also available with double-wall Gemini plates.

  • Materials: Heat transfer plates in Alloy 316 or titanium, gaskets in NBR or EPDM, frame and pressure plate in solid or clad stainless steel; can be manufactured to 3-A, with gaskets that comply with FDA regulations.

  • Connections: Clamp, SMS, DIN (unions and flanges), BS/RJT, FN1 and IDF/ISO.
