Tetra Pak® Bactofuge Unit
The Tetra Pak® Bactofuge unit is a centrifuge that separates spores and bacteria from milk. A bactofuge is traditionally used to pre-treat cheese milk, where it takes out anaerobic spores such as butyric acid spores, and it also improves consumption milk, cream and milk for powder by removing aerobic spores.

The Bactofuge unit is built on the AirTight design: hermetic seals at the inlet and outlet connect the piping to the rotating machine without letting air in or product out. This allows high removal efficiency at lower rotation speeds, which saves energy, and in two-phase machines it keeps the clean milk and the spore-enriched phase strictly apart. A hollow spindle accelerates the milk gently, so particles and aggregates keep their size. Where an even higher removal rate is needed, two or more units can be installed in series.
Applications: Pre-treatment of cheese milk, consumption milk and milk for powder production, treatment of whey and protein concentration.
Capacity: 5,000 to 55,000 l/h.
Design: Hermetic inlet and outlet seals, hollow spindle, one or two product discharge pumps instead of paring discs and a bowl in corrosion-resistant Duplex and Super Duplex steel.

Options: The Encapt™ technology lowers the pressure and air friction around the bowl to cut energy consumption further. With the INSTAL module the unit arrives pre-assembled and pre-tested on a stainless-steel frame, complete with all peripherals, which shortens installation.
