The Tetra Pak^® Homogenizer 500 is a high-pressure homogenizer for emulsions and suspensions and, with installed capacities of up to 63,600 l/h, the largest food homogenizer in the Tetra Pak^® range. It processes high- and low-viscosity products, aseptic and non-aseptic, and is also available as a high-pressure pump, for example to feed a spray dryer in powder production.

Several design details keep utility consumption down. The aseptic barrier works with high-temperature condensate that leaves at a minimum of 110 °C instead of the usual 60 °C or so, saving 70% of steam and 80% of water while improving food safety. In the serial cooling system the cooling water flows through the pistons one after another rather than in parallel, so it is reused several times and up to 80% can be recirculated. Turnable disc valves last twice as long at half the cost, and low speed and wear-resistant materials keep service intervals long.

• Applications: Pasteurized and UHT milk, cream, yoghurt, condensed milk, ice cream mix, fruit juices, rice, nut, grain and soy beverages, concentrates, purées, tomato products, dressings, ketchup, liquid egg, mayonnaise, sauces and gravies.

• Capacity: Installed capacities of up to 63,600 l/h, with an electricity consumption of 3 kWh per 1,000 litres of pasteurized milk at a NIZO value of 70%.

• Options: Version as a high-pressure pump, damper module for longer running hours, variable pressure and capacity with HD EnergyIQ.
